What’s New…
It has been one year since Dr Vincent Au took over Meroo St Family Practice and as you can see there have been a lot of physical changes to the look of the surgery.
We also welcome Dr Timothy Benjamin and his wife Dr Jega Benjamin to the Practice who have recently moved to Bomaderry with their family and will be staying long term. Dr Atul Misra joined the practice in June and comes with a paediatric background. And of course, the Principal doctor, Dr Au who consults full time. We are endeavoring to attract more long term doctors to the practice as we commonly hear “my doctor has left again’. Whilst it is important to continue to offer positions to Registrar doctors we are attempting to secure permanent doctors.
We are lucky to have 2 highly skilled nurses to support our GP’s with wound care, health assessments, vaccination, Indigenous health and chronic disease management. Three admin staff can help assist with your general enquires regarding the surgery. Booking appointments online is now available for patient convenience and our new website is almost ready for unveiling.
Whilst we no longer open Saturday mornings, we have extended our opening hours as follows; Monday to Friday from 8am-6pm. Our phones are answered from 8.15am – 5.45pm and are switched off from 1-2pm for our staff lunch break.
“Prevention is the key to better health in the future”. We provide many services that can assist you, those services are;
* Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders, 45-49 years old and 75 years and over
* Chronic Disease Management Plan
* Co-ordinated Veterans’ Care
* Disability
We have upgraded some technology in the practice which included the phones being changed to data phones via the NBN. We acknowledge there have been some connection problems and as a result we now have only 1 incoming phone number of 4421 4655. The previous number of 4423 2362 in no longer connected, we apologise for any inconvenience caused and are working hard to address all issues.
Psychologist – Trish
Trish has many years’ experience locally and appointments can be made if you have a current Mental Health Care Plan and a referral from your GP at our practice. Trish also has a non-attendance fee if 24 hours’ notice is not given to allow that appointment to be offered to another patient.
Dietitian – Charlotte, Exercise Physiologist -MIM, Podiatrist – Bruce, Diabetes Educator – Cheryl
All of these services are on site and are bulk billed where possible. These services can be accessed via a GP Management Plan referral for eligible patients (please discuss with your GP) or private consultations are welcomed. Rebates may be available from private health funds.
Non-Attendance
Each month there are up to 200 appointments that patients fail to attend with minimal or no notice. We have to turn away sick people who genuinely need to see a doctor because of this. We ask that you cancel your appointment with a minimum of 2 hours’ notice if you are unable to attend so that appointment can be offered to another patient. As such we have introduced a non-attendance fee of $20. This fee will be charged to the patient and is required to be paid prior to your next consultation so we can continue to offer bulk billing to all patients in the future.
