Allergies? Hay fever? Springtime can be a nightmare for allergy sufferers with windy conditions and flowering plants and pollens in full swing. As a result, sneezing, running or congested noses and itchy, watery eyes are commonplace. While Spring triggers most reactions, seasonal allergies can happen year ‘round.

The most common condition is Allergic rhinitis. It affects around 18% of people in Australia and New Zealand. What’s more, about 80% of people with Asthma have Allergic rhinitis, making both conditions more challenging to control.

Effective allergy treatments are available

Talk to one of our Doctors about how to manage your allergy symptoms. We will take into account the triggers, your condition and the age of the patient. Some of the more common treatments will help curb and lessen the symptoms, although there is no specific ‘cure’ for most allergens.

We regularly recommend trying to control seasonal allergies with the following:

  • antihistamine tablets or liquids
  • decongestant tablets
  • nasal sprays – saline or INCS
  • other methods like immunotherapy
